Swimming Lessons and Swim Safe

What a busy two weeks going to swimming lessons.

Messages we learnt...
Hand up when you're in trouble.
Always have an adult watch you.
If in doubt, stay out of the water.
Never swim when you are tired or cold.
Listen to the Lifeguard, swim between the flags.
Always use correct and safe equipment.

Making Play-dough for the School Fair

Team Harakeke made playdough to sell at the school fair. Each class did a great job. Tuatara Rock made green of course!

Pass the Ball Winners

Yay, Hoon Hay school took part in the Pass the Ball competition earlier this year. We threw it a total of more than 460kms. WOW! This morning we brainstormed questions that we would ask if we got to meet an All Black. Today we had Keiran Read, the All Black's captain, come to visit our school.  Austin asked him one of our questions "Do you get a new uniform for every game?" Yes he does! He has 107 test jerseys at his house. We all high-fived him and had our photo taken on the field.

The Elves and the Shoemaker

Wow what a great play. Our actors read with such clear voices and expression. They moved around and showed through their body language when they were surprised and excited. They had learnt their lines and didn't always need to read from the book. What a great job, the audience was so impressed!

Our Finished Birds

After lots of patience, and persistence our birds made it to the Art from the Heart. I am very proud of the children's efforts and how they worked hard to get them finished, and what an amazing job.
