Our Museum Trip

Today we went to the museum to see the Sunlight exhibit and learn more about the sun. Wow, we learned a lot. Keep watching this post for updates.

We started in the Discovery Room, - and we were the only ones there!

We saw skulls, insects, eggs, lizards, butterflies, animals and so much more. We were paleontologists and swept away sand to find fossils. We saw real, live tarantulas! There was so much to look at and find.

After morning tea we went and learned about sunlight and how it travels to Earth.
Ask us about how it bounces around and what happens when it arrives on Earth.

We had lunch outside at the Peacock fountain and played in the Giant tree and some of us had a leaf fight.

In the afternoon we walked around looking at the interesting exhibits in the museum. What a very busy day.

Learning to Count On on a Number Line

On Monday we worked with our maths mates to count on from the biggest number using a number line. We helped each other by talking through what we were doing and what came next. We started with a story problem and found the numbers in the story and the words that gave us clues about what to do.
Mrs Innes is very proud of how we work together to solve these problems.

Some of the things we found were that were tricky were...
You have to look carefully at the story problem.
You have to write your numbers carefully below were the jumps land on the number line.
Don't do your jumps too big or you run out of room.
